32 Forms Of Lord Ganesha

Lord Ganesha is considered the remover of obstacles and, hence, is worshipped before starting any auspicious work. Also, without his blessings, no work can be successful. So, he is called Vigna Hartha and is the most widely worshipped form. It is said, as per Ganesha Purana, that there are 32 forms of him, and each has specific features and powers. The first 16 forms are called Shodasa Ganapati, and the rest are called Ekavimsathi. Here are the 32 forms of Lord Ganesha:

  1. Bala Ganesha: This is the first form, the child form, which is said to represent fertility. He looks like the rising son and his hands hold sugarcane, jackfruit, banana, and mango, the earth’s produce. He is also shown holding his favourite Modaka (sweet).
  1. Taruna Ganapati: This is adolescent Ganesha form, shining like the midday sun and representing youthful energy and having eight hands (Astabhuja). In this form, he showers prosperity, health, fulfilment and happiness.
  1. Bhakti Ganapati: Lord Ganesh is like a Full moon and shines brightly. His compassion and kindness to his devotees are depicted in this form and hence is represented as Bhakti form. He helps his devotees control their anger and stay blessed in life.
  1. Veera Ganapati: He is shown as a Warrior in this form and is depicted with 16 arms holding weapons in each of them. This represents Valor, courage and fearlessness and those who worship Ganesha in this form can overcome all challenges in life.
  1. Shakti Ganapati: He is shown as Chaturbhuj Ganapati (four arms) and his wife Goddess Shakti sits on his left leg. Tantriks worship this form and is said to enhance concentration and help achieve success. This form is also considered the protector of families and brings harmony and peace to life.
  1. Dvija Ganapati: This form looks like Lord Brahma and is four-armed and four-legged. Dvija means twice-born first when taking birth and then when wearing sacred thread. That is why this form is called Brahmins and brings fame and goodwill in professional and personal life.  
  1. Siddhi Ganapati: Also known as Pingala Ganapati, Ganesha is golden yellow in colour. He is said to have received Ashta Maha Siddhis or 8 Maha Siddhis and is known to bless his devotees’ success in all aspects of life.
  1. Ucchhishta Ganesha: He is depicted with two arms and has a blue complexion. In this form, he is said to bless life partners with strength in relationships.
  1. Vighna Ganesha: He is shown similar to Lord Vishnu and holds a chakra and conch in two of his eight arms. He is said to remove all negativity and obstacles in his devotee’s life.
  1. Kshipra Ganapati: In this form, Ganesha is depicted with four arms and is in red. He can also be seen holding a Kalpavriksha which is a symbol of prosperity. Hence he is said to fulfill his devotee’s wishes and grant wealth and wisdom.
  1. Herabma Ganapati: This is a rare form in which he is shown with a Lion as his vehicle. In this form, he is believed to be a protector of the helpless.
  1. Lakshmi Ganapathi: He is seen with Goddess Siddhi and Buddhi in this form and bestows prosperity, wealth, intelligence and a blissful life.
  1. Maha Ganapathi: He is shown with a crescent moon on the forehead and with three eyes like Lord Shiva. It is one of the most important forms and is said to bestow praise and success to his devotees.
  1. Vijaya Ganapathi: In this form, he rides his Mushaka or mouse. He is known as the God of success and achievement.
  1. Nritya Ganapati: This is a dancing form and represents a delightful form of Ganesha. Those who worship this form gain fame and success in the artistic field.
  1. Urdhva Ganapati: This is another Tnatrik form and has eight arms and those who worship this form can gain inner strength and overcome difficulties.
  1. Ekakshara Ganapati: It is a Beejakshara or seed letter and represents Om. He is like Lord Shiva and has a crescent moon and has three eyes.
  1. Varada Ganapati: He is believed to be a boon giver and can be seen holding a flag and a lotus. This Ganapati is a symbol of generosity.
  1. Tyakshara Ganapati: This form represents the word Om and his worshippers attain spiritual knowledge and have a self-realisation journey.
  1. Kshipra Prasada Ganapati: He is shown with a crimson-red complexion and six arms. He is said to bless his worshippers easily.
  1. Haridra Ganapati: This form is made from turmeric, and is believed that he guides and stimulates his devotees.
  1. Ekadanta Ganapati: In this form, he has a larger belly depicting that the universe is inside him and is said to free his devotees from ignorance.
  1. Srishti Ganapati: He is believed to be the creator of the Universe and is believed to help his followers gain the power of judgment.
  1. Uddanda Ganapati: This is an angry form of Ganapati and is believed to be merciless of evil.
  1. Runamochana Ganapati: This form helps devotees liberate themselves from worldly karmic debts.
  1. Dhundhi Ganapati: This form provides spiritual knowledge to the devotees and helps them gain the path of liberation.
  1. Dvimukha Ganapati: This form is shown with two faces and represents the outer and inner aspects of the universe. He bestows his devotees protection against evil forces.
  1. Trimukha Ganapati: He is three-faced and looks after the wellbeing of the devotees.
  1. Simha Ganapati: He is portrayed with the face of a Lion and boasts fearlessness in his worshippers.
  1. Yoga Ganapati: In this form, he is in a meditative pose and shines like a rising sun. Worshipping him in this form promotes physical and mental health and progress in life.
  1. Durga Ganapati: This is similar to Goddess Durga. His worshippers get their obstacles removed and come victorious in life.
  1. Sankatahara Ganapati: This is the last form of Ganesha and banishes all sorrows in life.
