Hindu Gods to Worship on Different Days of the Week

Hindu god worship

In Hindu traditions, each day in the week is dedicated to a certain Hindu god and celestial planet. It is believed worshiping the deity on his/her dedicated day increases the benefits and bestows positive influences. The procedure for worshipping the deity varies by god, as dedicated mantras and puja rituals are to be followed.

But still people can ask days and times are not important for worshiping the gods. Although we can worship any Hindu god on any given day, certain days are considered more auspicious for some deities. For example, Monday is dedicated to Lord Shiva, and Saturday is dedicated to Shani Bhagwan.

Let’s see which god to worship on a particular day.

1. Sunday (Ravivar) – God Surya Narayanan

Sunday is dedicated to the Sun god Surya Narayana. On this day, devotees can visit nearby Shiva or Vishnu Temple, where a shrine dedicated to Sun God can be found. You can also worship the Sun god at home by offering him water. Water is offered to purify ourselves and seek his blessings for health and vitality. This offering can be done facing eastwards when the Sun rises or sets. Make sure you bathe before worshiping the God and face towards the Sun.

Benefits

The Sun God is associated with leadership, power, and confidence, and worshiping him imparts these characteristics in us. Thus, individuals with a business and political background can continue or develop their legacy by worshiping the Surya Narayana. He is also the father of great Yema, Shani, and Suryaputra Karna.

In Nepal, women worship Lord Shiva in the fourth month of Shrawan (July/August) as it’s believed to be the best day to fulfill wishes. Devotees can also worship Shiva’s consort, Parvati, on this special day to seek holistic blessings.

Benefits

Worshiping Shiva with higher devotion and without deviation appeases him and brings success to our endeavors. On special full moon days, visiting renowned Shiva Temples like Tiruvannmalai can help us bypass barriers that hinder us from connecting with the deity.
